Ilka Bene, CPHR Headshot 2019

Awards – Ilka Bene, CPHR

Ilka is a seasoned HR Pro (seasoned as in ‘sweet, salty and spicy’, not as in ‘old’) with experience working in medium to large organizations in both the public and private sectors.  She has held her CPHR since 2002, and was recognized as the HR Professional of the Year in 2017, an honour she strives every day to be worthy of. She has been an active advocate for the HR profession, and is a passionate mentor to folks in the private sector as well as in not-for-profit organizations. She’s delighted to be the Awards representative, as recognition is at the core of engagement and thriving in any workplace or profession.  Read Ilka’s Member Profile here.

Mentoring – Jocelin Caldwell

Jocelin is an HR Consultant, Workplace Facilitator and Career Coach with Reimagine Work. Jocelin joined CPHR BC & Yukon in 2009 when she moved to Victoria from Vancouver. Throughout her time, Jocelin has volunteered in various roles including the Networking Portfolio, initiating and facilitating the CAN Roundtables and she is currently on the Advisory Council as lead for the Professional Mentoring Program. Jocelin is excited about the opportunities she has had through CPHR BC & Yukon and meeting many HR professionals from throughout Vancouver Island.  Read Jocelin’s member profile here.

School Liaison – Crystal Wood, CPHR Candidate

Crystal began volunteering with the Awards Portfolio, and then was the Chair for the Victoria Roundtable.  She joined the Vancouver Island Advisory Council mid-way through 2017 to lead the Post Secondary Portfolio.  A graduate of Camosun College, this is a natural fit for her and she looks forward to connecting with students and faculty.  A member since 2012 Crystal says her membership provides a platform to learn, grow and explore her authentic self and connecting with members inspires, motivates and energizes her.

Volunteering – Sharde Long, CPHR Candidate

Advisor – Megan Bailey, CPHR (Nanaimo Liaison)

Advisor – Dale Samsanoff, CPHR

New to the Advisory Council in 2020, Dale supports us in an advisory role as the Chair of the Management and Human Resources Department at Camosun College.

Bryan Webber

Advisor – Bryan Webber, CPHR

Bryan, known for achieving a 100% score on the NKE examination, is the Assistant Dean of Business at the Vancouver Island University.  Bryan provides a strong link to the students in our accreditation program at VIU.  A member since 2008, Bryan says one of the reasons he is a member is the credibility and connection. As an educator in university business programs, representing the profession that he is helping students prepare for is important and CPHR BC & Yukon is a key component of that and the best way for him to role model being part of the HR community.
