The Vancouver Island Advisory Council handles the planning and implementation of local CPHR BC & Yukon activities and is made up of members representing a broad range of HR experience levels and areas of practice.

Thersa Henriksen 2019

Chair – Theresa Henriksen, CPHR

Theresa is an Engagement Associate with Engaged HR.  Theresa has been a member of CPHR BC & Yukon since starting her career in Human Resources in 2000, recognizing the value CPHR BC & Yukon offers in building a supportive network, staying current on trends and developments in the field, and having the opportunity to contribute to the HR Community.

Deborah Pike

Outgoing Chair – Deborah Pike, CPHR

A member since 2012, Deborah says there are many reasons she joined CPHR BC & Yukon. She enjoys the professional development events, the Members Only Breakfasts and the connection with members.

Pamela MacIntosh-Snell

Awards – Pamela MacIntosh-Snell, CPHR

Pamela is a Human Resources Advisor with Royal Roads University and has been a member of CPHR BC & Yukon since 2010.  She received her CPHR designation in 2012.  She began volunteering with CPHR BC & Yukon when she moved to Victoria in 2011.  Pamela has enjoyed the benefits that the CPHR BC & Yukon Professional Mentoring Program has to offer, as both a Protégé and a Mentor.  She joined the VI Advisory Council in 2014 as the lead for the Post-Secondary portfolio and is now lead for the Awards Portfolio.  Pamela loves being a part of the HR Professional community in Victoria and CPHR BC & Yukon has played an integral part in that for her.

Jocelin Caldwell

Mentoring – Jocelin Caldwell

Jocelin is an HR Consultant, Workplace Facilitator and Career Coach with Reimagine Work. Jocelin joined CPHR BC & Yukon in 2009 when she moved to Victoria from Vancouver. Throughout her time, Jocelin has volunteered in various roles including the Networking Portfolio, initiating and facilitating the CAN Roundtables and she is currently on the Advisory Council as lead for the Professional Mentoring Program and facilitating the HR Consultants Roundtable. Jocelin is excited about the opportunities she has had through CPHR BC & Yukon and meeting many HR professionals from throughout Vancouver Island.

Crystal Wood

Post Secondary – Crystal Wood, CPHR Candidate

Crystal began volunteering with the Awards Portfolio, and then was the Chair for the Victoria Roundtable.  She joined the Vancouver Island Advisory Council mid-way through 2017 to lead the Post Secondary Portfolio.  A graduate of Camosun College, this is a natural fit for her and she looks fowrard to connecting with students and faculty.  A member since 2012 Crystal says her membership provides a platform to learn, grow and explore her authentic self and connecting with members inspires, motivates and energizes her.


Volunteering – Rebecca Verwolf, CPHR Candidate

Rebecca is a People Services Assistant with BC Assessment.  Before discovering her passion for HR, Rebecca was a researcher, program coordinator, and employment advisor in the social services.  Rebecca joined CPHR BC & Yukon in 2015 while studying HR at Camosun College, and credits the welcoming HR community in Victoria for launching her new career.  As the Volunteer lead, Rebecca looks forward to helping others make valuable professional connections and furthering our thriving community of practice.

Carole Gosse

Advisor – Carole Gosse, CPHR

Carole has been serving the Vancouver Island advisory council in the role of Mentoring Lead for many years and now shares her expertise in an advisory role. She is an instructor in the HRM program at Camosun College.

Halinka Szwender

Advisor – Halinka Szwender, CPHR

New to the Advisory Council in 2018, Halinka supports us in an advisory role as the Chair of the Management and Human Resources Department at Camosun College.

Bryan Webber

Advisor – Bryan Webber, CPHR

Bryan, known for achieving a 100% score on the NKE examination, is the Assistant Dean of Business at the Vancouver Island University.  Bryan provides a strong link to the students in our accreditation program at VIU.  A member since 2008, Bryan says one of the reasons he is a member is the credibility and connection. As an educator in university business programs, representing the profession that he is helping students prepare for is important and CPHR BC & Yukon is a key component of that and the best way for him to role model being part of the HR community.
