Chair – Theresa Henriksen, CPHR

Theresa is an Engagement Associate with Engaged HR.  Theresa has been a member of CPHR BC & Yukon since starting her career in Human Resources in 2000, recognizing the value CPHR BC & Yukon offers in building a supportive network, staying current on trends and developments in the field, and having the opportunity to contribute to the HR Community.

Outgoing Chair – Deborah Pike, CPHR

Deb has served on the CPHR Advisory Council Vancouver Island since 2013, first as Membership Lead and then as Chair. As she completes her role as outgoing Chair in 2019, Deb feels a sense of satisfaction being part of the growth that the Island membership has seen over the past year.  She is currently developing a project that combines her skills as a facilitator/educator with her passion for wine. Grateful for the supportive and vibrant connections she has made in the CPHR BC & Yukon community, Deb is looking forward to another year of learning and networking with colleagues and friends.

Membership – Tammy Khanna, CPHR

As the Executive Director at the Independent Living Housing Society, Tammy is the lead for all human resources and labour relations matters.  She is a founding member of the Victoria HR Network sharing resources, expertise and learning opportunities for HR professionals in the Community Social Services sector.  Tammy earned her CPHR in 2004 and has been a member of CPHR BC & Yukon even since as it is a great way to stay connected to the HR community.  She hosted the Members’ Only Breakfast for the past two years and as a new member of the Advisory Committee, her role as the Membership Portfolio Lead is the perfect fit for Tammy’s passion for connecting people.  As a proponent of life-long learning, Tammy is currently completing a degree in Labour Relations and Human Resources.

She has been an active member of CPHR BC & Yukon since 2017 and has volunteered as the Silent Action Coordinator for the last two years. Andrea is passionate about community service and professional networking and she attributes her recent employment success to the very events the Vancouver Island Region offers to its members. Andrea has recently joined the Advisory Council as Networking Lead and looks forward to supporting the HR professional community through engaging and welcoming events!

Post Secondary – Crystal Wood, CPHR Candidate

Crystal began volunteering with the Awards Portfolio, and then was the Chair for the Victoria Roundtable.  She joined the Vancouver Island Advisory Council mid-way through 2017 to lead the Post Secondary Portfolio.  A graduate of Camosun College, this is a natural fit for her and she looks forward to connecting with students and faculty.  A member since 2012 Crystal says her membership provides a platform to learn, grow and explore her authentic self and connecting with members inspires, motivates and energizes her.

Volunteering – Janice Green

Janice is the People & Performance Administrator at Bambora. Janice began volunteering with CPHR BC & Yukon in her 3rd year as a student in the BBA program at Camosun. She has volunteered on the Mentoring Portfolio as the Mentoring Assistant for two years, as well as helping with seasonal events. Janice is passionate about creating and maintaining connections within the community, and is excited to continue growing alongside the association as she takes the lead on the Volunteering Portfolio with CPHR BC & Yukon!

Advisor – Halinka Szwender, CPHR

New to the Advisory Council in 2018, Halinka supports us in an advisory role as the Chair of the Management and Human Resources Department at Camosun College.

Bryan Webber

Advisor – Bryan Webber, CPHR

Bryan, known for achieving a 100% score on the NKE examination, is the Assistant Dean of Business at the Vancouver Island University.  Bryan provides a strong link to the students in our accreditation program at VIU.  A member since 2008, Bryan says one of the reasons he is a member is the credibility and connection. As an educator in university business programs, representing the profession that he is helping students prepare for is important and CPHR BC & Yukon is a key component of that and the best way for him to role model being part of the HR community.
