The Coastal Vancouver Advisory Council handles the planning and implementation of local CPHR BC & Yukon activities and is made up of members representing a broad range of HR experience levels and areas of practice.

Serena_Aroon

 Chair – Serena Morphy, CPHR

Serena currently works for Goldcorp as their Senior Recruitment Specialist. Serena holds a Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration and a Certificate in Human Resources Management from BCIT and was CPHR BC & Yukon’s Rising Star Award recipient for 2015. This is Serena’s fifth year on the Advisory Council and first year as the Chair of the Coastal Vancouver advisory council.

Outgoing Chair – Courtney Cheyne, CPHR

Courtney is currently the People & Culture Manager at Buyatab Online Inc. and was formerly the HR Business Partner at BuildDirect Technologies.  Prior to that she was the Senior HR Advisor at Omicron Canada for over 5 years, and was the 2017 Rising Star Award recipient. She is a graduate of University of Western Ontario where she completed her Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies with a specialization in Human Resources. Courtney started volunteering at events with CPHR BC & Yukon several years ago and this is her sixth year on the Advisory Council.

Networking – Lorelei Russell, CPHR

Lorelei Russell is the Director, People Services with Vancouver School District 39 where she focuses on Compensation and Benefits, Employee Wellness and PeopleSoft HCM.  She has a Bachelor of General Studies degree from Thompson Rivers University with a focus on business and human resources.  She also has a Human Resources Management Certificate from BCIT.  Lorelei’s background includes owning a small construction company for ten years, working as a HR generalist and payroll administrator in the manufacturing industry for eight years and as a self employed Human Resources Consultant for five years for small businesses without their own inhouse HR.  This is her first year on council.

Post-Secondary – Brenda Kumar, CPHR

Brenda serves as the Director, People & Culture for Covenant House Vancouver.  A senior people and culture leader, Brenda has 20+ years of experience in multiple sectors across Canada, and holds a Masters in Industrial Relations from Queens University, as well as her CPHR designation.  This is Brenda’s first year on the Coastal Vancouver Advisory Council; she has also served on the Greater Vancouver and Vancouver Island Advisory Councils in the past, as well as other volunteer activities with CPHR BC & Yukon.

Volunteering – Isabelle Godsy, CPHR

Isabelle is a Human Resources and Organization Development Consultant with over 20 years of HR experience which includes various roles held at BC Hydro and Accenture. Isabelle also has over 20 years of volunteer management and program development experience with not-for-profit organizations including UNICEF BC and Dress for Success Vancouver. Isabelle holds a B.A. in Communications and Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Human Resources from Royal Roads University, and is in the process of completing a Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies at Royal Roads University focused in Organization Design and Development. This is Isabelle’s first year on the advisory council.

Membership – Laetitia Lim, CPHR

Laetitia is currently an HR Analyst at BC Hydro, and was previously the Human Resources Generalist at Omicron. She is a graduate of the SFU Beedie School of Business where she completed her Bachelor of Business Administration, concentrating in Human Resource Management. Laetitia has been involved with CPHR BC & Yukon since 2015. She has held positions, both through volunteering and at work, that revolve around member/employee engagement, so she is excited to lead the Membership Portfolio as part of the Advisory Council.
