AI for HR
A Guide to Effective Prompts
“AI won’t take your job. It’s someone using AI that will.”
– Richard Baldwin, 2023 World Economic Forum
‘AI for HR: A Guide to Effective Prompts’ is a digital guidebook available exclusively to CPHR BC & Yukon members. This reference document guides HR professionals in how they can interact with (i.e. ‘prompt’) generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot, among others. Using an extended selection of HR-specific sample prompts, it shows members how to best phrase their prompts and use AI to meet each of the CPHR BC & Yukon core competencies. We believe that this document is the first of its kind in the field of HR.
One of the strategic goals of CPHR BC & Yukon is to “serve as leaders in the future of HR and the future of work,” which prompted the development of this guide. While there are different perspectives about how AI will affect jobs and work environments, it is clear that this innovation is here to stay. AI has the ability to expedite traditionally cumbersome tasks, enabling teams to dive into more fundamental issues of HR, such as work that is more innovative and strategic in nature.
By integrating Generative AI into your HR practices, productivity can be increased, data-driven decisions can become easier, and you can become a more dynamic, innovative, and responsive HR leader. As such, it would be in the interests of HR professionals to learn how to effectively use AI, adapt work processes, and be fully equipped for tomorrow’s workplace.
