The Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHRTM) designation is the mark of a professional. It is a nationally-recognized symbol that an HR practitioner meets specific professional criteria, keeps current in the field and adheres to a professional code of ethics.
Through the CPHRTM, HR professionals are able to send a strong message to employers and the public that they are up-to-date on the latest legislation, best practices and trends – and are able to provide the most effective workplace solutions.
A report released by Payscale indicated that CPHRTM holders enjoy several advantages when it comes to career progression and compensation:
- CPHRTM holders are promoted more frequently – 45% of HR generalists with a CPHRTM became HR Managers within 5 years, whereas only 21% of HR generalists without a CPHRTM made the same progression.
- CPHRTM holders are compensated higher – across all job titles those holding a CPHRTM were paid more than those who did not hold a CPHRTM. The largest difference, at 16%, was for those at HR Manager level.
- CPHRTM holders are more highly valued – In British Columbia the median annual pay for all HR job titles is 30% higher for those with a CPHRTM than for those without.
